Alright If you are new at making websites you need to know how to make your site great. This is how you can make your site great.
First of all we need to discus load time. Obviously it is how quickly your site will show. If your site takes only a second to load your ok. Although if your site doesn’t load for five minutes there is a problem. Nobody wants to wait 5 minutes for a page to load and if you NEED that info there try spreading out amoung multipul pages. I have seen SO MANY websites that have 50 videos on one page. This makes the page take a long time to load and then you can’t even sort through them. I would sugest having a menu of videos that says “action humor soap opera” and so on and so on then when you click on one it goes to another menue that organises the videos by ranking. when you click on the link to take you to one of videos it opens up another page. with this method your conent is organised and you don’t have to worry about load time!
Next is design. Your site needs to mach and be readable. If you can’t see the text nobody is gona come.
And if your site is VERY DARK for no reason it might give osme users a bad “vibe” and they might not come back. on the other hand A site that is bright pink isn’t gona be so great either nobody wants to change the brightness down on thier monitor for one website at least I don’t You need to find a color that is nutral. You also need your design to be constant if your homepage is blue then a blog page is purple that kinda gets anoying. Another good thing to test definataly new guys in htmlneed to test this is that your website looks how it looks. On my first site I made a BIG mistake. My entire sites background changed on a biger monitor.If you have a site with ALOT of pictures in the background look at your site on diferent sized monitors to see if it looks right. If your background is just a solid color your ok.
Third is content. This is a BIG part in a site. Your content is what people use. Your content needs to be uniqe. If you just take all of miniclips games and embed them why not just use miniclip? There are a few questions you need to ask yourself for this part. Does my site have good content? Is it usualy up? is my content original? What will keep me from using another site that is similar?
Basicly what that means is: If your site is just another place with forums that are down half the time what keeps me from using a place like kongragates forums that are always up? PLUS they have games.
Now we descus reliabilty. If nobody can get to your site half the time you are only getting half of the possible vistits it is as simple as that.
Another thing is price. obviously if your site is free your ok here. but if your site is an online store what is gona attract people are low prices. if you are selling a computer for 1000 bucks but you can get the same one at target for 900 bucks people are gona go to target.
one of the most important things is how the user feels overall about the site. This felling mainly comes from everything else but there might be something that the user just doesn’t like. If your site is about sports it might contain TONS of valuable information but people might just not like sports. People are not gona come to a site if they don’t like the subject. If you pick a popular subject you have tons of people who want info on that subject but possibly other sites already are made for that. If you pick a less popular subject there is less competion bettween simillar sites but less people that want the subject. mainly you want a subject that is popular with low competition.
Finaly there is your comunity. if you have forums you gota have a filter and mods. people are not gona want to talk to people who swear or are just plain nasty. also your forums should relate to the subject of your site.
