A Crucial Question All Businesses Face And Its Going To Generate Gazillions Of Posts On This Blog?
Who should blog at a company? And what sort of guidelines should they follow?
Its easiest for blogging CEOs especially those like Jupiter Media CEO Alan Meckler who owns a big slug of his company for the help www.feedreaderlinks.com. Hes been blogging for a year and a half and gets several thousand page views a day. He says: Im the largest stock holder in my company. If I werent Id be more concerned about what the board would think A lot of people to do what Im doing would have to get check offs from the legal department and to cover their ass.
Meckler uses his blog to trade ideas and to hold up Jupiter’s brand in the blogosphere. He’s not shy about going on the attack.
But How about those of us who don’t sit in the corner office. Which of us should blog? Who does it right? Who doesn’t? I’d like to get some discussion on this. Meantime here are some useful pointers from Susan Solomon a marketing professor in California.
And for those with an extra minute for reading here are some more nuggets from Meckler. They’re from an interview we did for the cover story. Lots of interviews didn’t make it into the story. We’ll look for ways to slip bits and pieces into the blog.
How did the blog start?
Meckler: It looked like an interesting sort of way for the CEO to get the message out. I felt I could turn the blog into Internet media commentary for the help www.rssannouncers.com. I evolved over the next year
I now write more frequently. I write nearly every day from 50 to 300 or 400 words. Its therapeutic and beneficial for the company.
Is it frank?
Meckler: I call it the way I see it within reason. I write about what I think is happening on the Net. I try to weave in as often as I can how were doing as a company using it as a promotional tool. Im not trying to hide the fact.
BW: Does the PR staff oversee it?
Meckler: I am the PR department. I dont even have a secretary. I have an editorial director. Occasionally I will confer with him.
Will blogs be a big business?
Meckler: Im somewhat jaundiced about the real economic impact in terms of revenue. About 99.99 of all blogs are essentially worthless. Its another medium thats all it is.
Are the comments valuable for you?
Meckler: I just opened up recently comments on my blog. Some are very critical of me. Unfortunately spam has found its way to those comments. In any given day Ill get 20 to 30 comments. Four are valid the rest are spam.
What do you have to watch out for?
Meckler: Being a public company one has to be very careful. If I write about the company Im not giving away inside information. I dont write this to pump the stock.

Benefits Of Bringing Call Center Jobs To The Philippines
The Philippines is considered to be one of the major players in the call center industry in Asia. In 2004 the country already held 20 of the total market share in call center solutions in the world. Experts in the business are expecting that this rate will increase at 55 in 2009.
Because of the industrys market strength it has made a relevant 12 contribution to the Philippines Gross National Product. It is also the leading provider of jobs for 900000 of Filipinos. There are more than 700 call centers established in the country and most of which are located in the business sectors of Manila. Because of its stellar performance in the market the Philippines has been ranked as one of the top ten business process outsourcing destinations not only in Asia but the whole world.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to the countrys great feat in the BPO industry. Primary to this is the Filipinos command of the English language. Compared to neighboring countries which are also pursuing a call center success Filipinos are preferred by foreign clients because of their neutral accent. Given months of proper speech trainings agents hired in the Philippines can already replicate an American accent. In this way clients can be more assured of quality Englishspeaking staff and at the same time be able to save on training costs.
Another reason that made the Philippines a haven for call center jobs is the quality of outsourced work that Filipinos are able to deliver. Whether it is customer service efficiency at work and courtesy Filipino agents are highly commendable by clients when it comes to the said characteristics. They are also more able to live up to the strict performance metrics of international standards.
Finally the call center industry in the Philippines has been a booming enterprise because it offers affordable rates without jeopardizing quality of service. Outsourcing call center services from Asia proves to be 85 more affordable than hiring Americans to occupy vacancies in the customer service department. On average foreign clients are only going to pay a Filipino contact center agent 8 to 10 per hour. It is exponentially lower than the 25 per hour rate that American contact center agents will charge.
Projections about the call center industry in the Philippines continue to paint positivism. Amidst the global economic crisis the business continues to flourish and is in fact still is a strong source of job opportunities for Filipinos. If the industry continues to develop and reach greater heights getting more than half of the worldwide market shares in the business will be a possibility.
